Libby’s Holiday Gift Guide: Kitchen Essentials and other knick knacks

If you can’t already tell, I love anything kitchen related. That said, I thought I would share a few of my favorite kitchen items and finds for that foodie on your list!

Tartan plates– This is my favorite purchase this year. I saw these at Williams Sonoma when I was home for Thanksgiving and had to have them – they are so festive for the season. $52 for four

Cookbooks – My ultimate weakness, or at least one of them, is cookbooks. This year I asked for The Kitchn (great blog too), Ina Garten’s new ‘Make it Ahead,’ and Skinnytaste. Santa may have come a little early….and I am enjoying reading all of these as I type.

State dish towel – A great friend surprised me with a Missouri dish towel for Christmas and I love it. Makes me smile every time I see it. $20

Vitamix – I realize this is an investment and I am only lucky enough to own one because my mom shares my love of kitchen gadgets and let me steal hers for a bit….let’s just say I never gave it back. She has since replaced hers and we both use it all the time. Soups, homemade peanut butters, and of course for smoothies. $449

Microplane and ice cream scoop – The microplane is my favorite wedding gift to give – I use it all the time, especially for lemon or orange zest (scones) and for fresh parmesan cheese. The ice cream scoop is a must for cookie baking to get perfectly sized cookies. $15 each

From the Page candles – I found this cute shop on Etsy and all of the candles are named after books. I bought a Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and Pride and Prejudice set. They smell amazing, especially the pumpkin one! $10 each

Personalized state wood cutting board – I received an Indiana cutting board from friends and use it at least once a week for a cheese and wine dinner. I purchased this for friends for Christmas and am so excited to give it to them (hopefully they are not reading this)! $55

Sistema Steamer: I use this all the time, especially for brussel sprouts. I steam my sprouts first and then I pan fry them in a little olive oil, butter, salt and pepper to get them crispy.

Corkcicle Class Wine Chiller – I received this from my mom a few years ago and while I rarely use it for wine, since I am mostly a red wine drinker, I found another ingenious use for this when I have a dinner party. I put the chiller stick in a large pitcher of water, so that when the ice melts, the water still stays cold. $15

Wine Aerator – My parents have one and I can definitely tell the difference when you pour your wine through the aerator before serving. It takes a $10 merlot and makes it a lot better. I made the mistake of purchasing mine at a wine store, but they’re only $20 on Amazon! Well worth the investment, especially if you frequently enjoy wine.

Monogram Mugs – I bought monogram mugs from Anthropologie for a lot of my friends this year. Add homemade cookies and it’s the perfect gift! $8 each

Elephant Creamer – I have a friend that LOVES elephants, so this was a must and also half the price of the cow creamer I have been eyeing at Williams-Sonoma for years. $16
